1. Introduction

TamagoFit ("we," "our," or "us") is a fitness gamification mobile application that allows users to raise virtual pets by staying active and healthy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application and related services (collectively, the "Service").

By using TamagoFit, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Account Information

When you create an account, we may collect:

  • Email address
  • Display name
  • Profile image (if provided)
  • Phone number (if used for authentication)

2.2 Apple HealthKit Data

With your explicit permission, TamagoFit accesses the following health data from Apple HealthKit:

  • Step Count — used to earn XP and coins for your virtual pet
  • Active Energy Burned (Calories) — used to earn coins
  • Sleep Analysis — used to calculate a bonus coin reward when you sleep 7–9 hours (does not control the in-game sleep bar)
  • Walking/Running Distance — stored for future features (not currently used in gameplay)
  • Mindful Minutes — stored for future features (not currently used in gameplay)

Important — Apple HealthKit Commitment:
TamagoFit does not sell, share, or disclose any HealthKit data to third parties, including advertising platforms, data brokers, or analytics services. HealthKit data is used solely within the TamagoFit app to power your virtual pet's stats and your in-app achievements. HealthKit data is not used for advertising, marketing, or any purpose other than providing the core functionality of the Service. HealthKit data is not stored in iCloud.

2.3 In-App Purchase Data

When you make in-app purchases (e.g., coin packs), we record the transaction details including the product purchased, the amount, and a transaction identifier provided by Apple or Google. We do not collect or store your payment card information — all payment processing is handled by the respective app store.

2.4 Device Information

We may collect:

  • Device type and operating system version
  • Push notification token (if you enable notifications)
  • App version

2.5 Usage Data

We collect data about how you interact with the app, including your virtual pet's stats (hunger, sleep, level, experience, coins), achievements unlocked, items purchased in the in-game shop, and streak history. This data is essential to providing the game experience.

2.6 Waitlist Data

If you sign up for our waitlist via the landing page, we collect your email address and the date of signup. This information is used solely to notify you when TamagoFit launches.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the Service
  • Sync your health activity with your virtual pet's stats
  • Track your achievements, streaks, and progress
  • Process in-app purchases and manage your in-game inventory
  • Send push notifications (only if you opt in) about your pet's status, achievements, or reminders
  • Provide customer support
  • Detect and prevent fraud or abuse

We do not use your data for targeted advertising. TamagoFit does not display third-party advertisements.

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely using Convex, a cloud backend platform. Data is transmitted over encrypted connections (TLS/SSL). We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.

HealthKit data that is synced to our servers is limited to aggregated daily values (e.g., total steps for the day, total calories burned) and is stored in association with your user account. Raw HealthKit samples are not stored on our servers.

5. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell your personal information. We may share data only in the following circumstances:

  • Service Providers: We use Convex (backend infrastructure) and RevenueCat (in-app purchase management) to operate the Service. These providers process data on our behalf and are bound by contractual obligations to protect your data.
  • Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request.
  • Safety: We may disclose information to protect the rights, safety, or property of TamagoFit, our users, or the public.

HealthKit data is never shared with third parties. This applies without exception to advertising networks, analytics services, data brokers, and any other external parties. This commitment is in strict compliance with Apple's HealthKit guidelines.

6. Your Rights and Choices

6.1 HealthKit Permissions

You can revoke TamagoFit's access to HealthKit data at any time through your device's Settings > Health > Data Access & Devices > TamagoFit. Revoking access will prevent the app from syncing new health data, but your virtual pet will continue to exist with its current stats.

6.2 Push Notifications

You can disable push notifications at any time through your device settings or within the app.

6.3 Account Deletion

You may request deletion of your account and all associated data by contacting us at privacy@tamagofit.app. Upon receiving your request, we will delete your account data, including your virtual pet, inventory, achievements, and health snapshots, within 30 days. Some data may be retained for legal or legitimate business purposes (e.g., transaction records for accounting).

6.4 Data Access and Portability

You have the right to request a copy of the personal data we hold about you. Contact us at privacy@tamagofit.app and we will provide your data in a portable format within 30 days.

6.5 European Users (GDPR)

If you are a resident of the European Economic Area (EEA), you have additional rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), including the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict processing of, and object to the processing of your personal data. Our legal basis for processing personal data is: (a) your consent (e.g., HealthKit access), (b) performance of a contract (providing the Service), and (c) legitimate interests (improving the Service and preventing fraud).

6.6 California Users (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, request deletion, and opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information.

7. Children's Privacy

TamagoFit is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age of consent in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected personal data from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete that information promptly. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal data, please contact us at privacy@tamagofit.app.

8. Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. Health snapshots are retained for analytics purposes for the lifetime of your account. If you delete your account, we will delete your data within 30 days, except for data we are legally required to retain (e.g., purchase transaction records, which may be retained for up to 7 years for tax and accounting purposes).

9. Third-Party Services

The Service may integrate with or rely on the following third-party services:

  • Apple HealthKit — for reading health and fitness data (governed by Apple's privacy policy)
  • Convex — for backend data storage and real-time sync
  • RevenueCat — for managing in-app purchases and subscriptions
  • Apple Push Notification Service / Firebase Cloud Messaging — for sending push notifications
  • Expo — for app delivery and over-the-air updates

Each of these services has its own privacy policy governing the use of your data. We encourage you to review their policies.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new policy in the app or by email. Your continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
