How walking hatches your egg

A cozy peach-colored TamagoFit island

Every TamagoFit adventure starts the same way: with an egg, and a walk. Your steps are the only thing that can hatch it. No timers, no shortcuts you have to pay for, just you moving through your day.

Here's exactly how it works, and a few tips to get there faster.

Step 1: connect Apple Health

TamagoFit runs on iPhone and reads your steps from Apple Health. On first launch, the app asks for permission to read your activity. Say yes to steps at least: that's what powers your egg.

TamagoFit only reads. It never writes anything to Apple Health, and your health data is never sold or used for ads. Curious about the details? Read our Apple Health privacy guide.

Step 2: walk 10,000 steps

Your egg hatches after 10,000 steps. They don't have to happen in one day: every step you sync counts toward the egg until it's ready.

Steps reach the game when you open the app. TamagoFit fetches your latest steps from Apple Health and the egg's counter drops. Walk to the bakery, open the app, watch the number move.

Tips to hatch faster

  • Carry your phone. The iPhone counts steps from its own motion sensors, so it needs to be with you.
  • Wear an Apple Watch? Its steps land in Apple Health too, and TamagoFit reads them from there.
  • Open the app now and then. That's when your steps sync and coins land.
  • Take the long way. Stairs, a walk after lunch, a phone call on your feet: it all adds up.
  • Do your egg quests. They pay coins while you wait (more below).

What's inside? Rarity explained

Every egg holds a monster from one of three rarities. A New Egg gives you:

  • Common: 70% (Sprinty the Runner 35%, Flippi the Gymnast 35%)
  • Rare: 25% (Rocko the Bodybuilder)
  • Ultra Rare: 5% (Punchi the Fighter)

Later, you can buy a Rare Egg in the Shop with coins you earned by walking. It never holds a Common monster: Rare 75%, Ultra Rare 25%. The odds are always shown in the Shop before you buy, so there's no guessing.

The hatching ceremony

When your egg reaches zero, it's showtime. The egg glows in the color of its rarity, cracks open, and your monster takes its first look at the world (and at you). Ultra Rare hatches get an extra-big celebration.

Hello, world

Your new friend comes with the coins you collected while it was an egg. On your account's very first hatch, you also get a little bonus of starter coins to help you settle in.

Egg quests pay while you wait

You don't have to wait for the hatch to start earning. While it's still an egg, daily walking quests pay coins, and there's a bonus for finishing them all. Your weekly quests and player XP work from day one too.

After the hatch

Now the real adventure begins. Your monster gets hungry and sleepy, so it needs you:

  1. Feed it with food from the Shop or your Bag (an Apple, a Steak, a Cheeseburger...).
  2. Put it to bed when it's tired, or brew it a tea.
  3. Clean up after it. Yes, monsters poop.
  4. Keep walking. Steps earn coins and XP, and your first steps of each day earn a little more.

As it gains levels, your monster grows. Keep going and one day it transforms. Into what? A secret. For the full tour, see how it works or the FAQ.
